What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
Pay and bonuses are generally very good for the roles as given.
Graduate, Canberra
The prospect of year-over-year real-wage cuts is disconcerting. A lot of employees seem to already do a lot of unpaid work, now the Department seems to want to pay them less. Additionally, bonuses based on individual performance seem absurd - they create perverse incentives and toxic work environments when people are competing against each other rather than working together. If there are bonuses, they should be distributed equally to all employees to prevent such perverse incentives.

The pay is relatively good compared to other APS departments.

Pay is okay, what bonuses though?

The pay is quite good for entry level staff

The pay is competitive compared to other grad programs and progression through the APS classifications is swift. I started the grad program at APS3 level, was promoted to APS4 mid-way through the 10 month program and will be promoted to APS5 at the end of the program, pending successful completion.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
There are perks that come with being part of employee networks, such as being invited to special events (e.g. lunches, dinners) that are fully covered by the networks. The Graduate Certificate also has a celebratory lunch at the end of the course.
