Kearney First Nations Scholarship & Internship Program

Kearney ANZ is committed to a diverse, inclusive and equitable working environment. As part of this commitment, we are pleased to offer this First Nations Scholarship. The scholarship aims to provide an opportunity to students that identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to experience the world of Management Consulting within a supportive and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to intern in either the Sydney or Melbourne Kearney office for 5 weeks during the Winter 2025 or Summer 2025/2026 semester break.

About Kearney

Kearney is a leading global management consulting firm with offices in more than 40 countries. Since 1926, we have been trusted advisors to the world's foremost organisations. Kearney is a partner-owned firm, committed to helping clients achieve success.

We strive to be the difference and lead by example, using our voice, power, and resources to act. We are a supportive organisation that honours diversity, equity, and inclusion, and stand in solidarity with each other regardless of race, gender or background.

Scholarship and Internship details

The Kearney First Nations Scholarship is open to students with a minimum of 1 year of university education in business, commerce or management, who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The recipient of the scholarship will receive:

  • A competitive salary for the duration of the internship period;
  • Up to $20,000 to be used to support either their next year of study or other educational related activities;
  • Mentorship from a senior Kearney consultant;
  • Access to specialised in-house management consultant training.

What we are seeking

At Kearney, we value problem solvers who are passionate about creating impact, think critically about the most pressing issues, and ready to share ideas and perspectives. We value critical thinking, clear communication, and individuals who bring a desire to learn new topics and information.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be:

  • A current Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identifying student in your second-to-final year of study;
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident with full Australian working rights.

How do I apply?

Applicants are asked to submit their application via the below link, and attach the following required information:

  • A brief cover letter (no more than 300 words) outlining your interests, experience and interest in Kearney.
  • A copy of your CV (no more than 2 pages)
  • A copy of your latest academic transcript (unofficial copies accepted)

Responses to the following three questions:

  1. What are you passionate about, and what are your career aspirations?
  2. How would the Kearney First Nations Scholarship help you achieve your career aspirations?
  3. What are the greatest challenges you anticipate interning in Management Consulting?

Kearney Australia acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present and emerging.

Equal Employment Opportunity and Non-Discrimination:

Kearney prides itself on providing a culture that allows employees to bring their best selves to work every day. Our people can feel comfortable, confident, and joyful to do great things for our firm, our colleagues, and our clients. Kearney aims to build diverse capabilities to help our clients solve their most mission critical problems.

Kearney is committed to building a diverse, unbiased and inclusive workforce. Kearney is an equal opportunity employer; we recruit, hire, train, promote, develop, and provide other conditions of employment without regard to a personโ€™s gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, national origin, disability, marital status, pregnancy status, veteran status, genetic information or any other differences consistent with applicable laws. This includes providing reasonable accommodation for disabilities, or religious beliefs and practices. Members of communities historically underrepresented in consulting are encouraged to apply.
