Yancoal Australia is Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer! We currently employ approximately 4000 people across our mines in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. Yancoal’s New South Wales region includes the mines of Moolarben, Mount Thorley Warkworth, Ashton Underground and Stratford Duralie, with the Queensland region comprising of Yarrabee and Cameby Downs Mines.

Our people are at the heart of what we do, and recently this was recognised by the NSW Minerals Council awarding Mount Thorley Warkworth’s CHPP Maintenance Delivery Superintendent, Leah Miller, the Exceptional Young Female Award in 2020. Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine was also a Finalist for the Outstanding Mine of the Year in 2020.
Our graduate program is the pipeline for our future leaders at Yancoal. Our Graduate program is a two year program for prospective Mining Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Surveyors. You will rotate between two of our minesite’s in Australia and be provided on-the-job training to refine both your technical skills and professionalism. Our Graduates are partnered with a mentor within Yancoal in their field to support them with their professional development.
Each year we also offer a vacation work program from November/December to February for students in at least their second year of Mining, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering who complete a project in their field of study and also learn some of the day-to-day tasks. Vacation work is a fantastic way to kick off your chosen career with Yancoal.
